Woe is Me (Pt. 4)

Woe to Those Who Destroy Others!

The world loves to hear gossip.  In addition to printed material, we now have the ability through social media on the internet to multipy the effects of what we say for good or for evil.  This is the information age, but we get a lot of disinformation!  One of the greatest travesties of social media today is the ability of anyone to start rumors, gossip and slander about anybody.  Hollywood even glamorizes it!  The right of ‘free speech’ is taken to the absurd and social media is often used as a vehicle to air suspicion, bitterness, and outright lies.  People who are looking for something bad about anyone will usually find it on the internet!

Have you noticed that the things people are saying are becoming more and more vicious?  This is especially true when they can do it anonymously.  Behavior like that is somewhat more expected from the unregenerate, but we now see so much of this within the ranks of those who claim Jesus as Savior and Lord.  My friends, this should not be.

When I went through the Valley in the 80’s and 90’s, it was not the words of the secular population that wounded my soul as much as it was the voices of those in the Church.  David had some experience with those kind of ‘friends’.  In Psalm 55:12-14 he said, “For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:  But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.  We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.” KJV

Do you want to know who to listen to?  …who to trust?  Seek out that one that you never hear saying anything bad about anybody.  That’s the one you can trust not to stab you in the back if they witness you in your humanity.  Surround yourself with people who have learned that if they can’t say something good, then don’t say anything at all.

God does not take kindly to those who set out to destroy others.  In fact, He says “Woe” to the them.  That word ‘woe’ means “grief, alas, anguish, torment.”  Those who set out to destroy others bring grief, anguish and torment upon themselves.  It’s amazing how moral immoral people become when they’re out to destroy others.  Yet, they want their own sins covered.

I don’t know why some people never learn this lesson.  I don’t know why some people have to go down that slippery slope.  It is a path many have traveled before and should have learned that it will only RETURN grief.  You don’t gossip about God’s people without serious consequences and it’s time we get that straight and repent of it before we have to face the ‘woes’ that are surely coming.  We can’t control what the world does in its vicious gossip, but we can let the Word of God cause us to repent of doing the same thing within the Church.

Isaiah 33:1 NCV

How terrible it will be for you or woe to you who destroy others but have not been destroyed yet.

How terrible it will be for you, traitor, whom no one has turned against yet.

When you stop destroying, others will destroy you.

When you stop turning against others, they will turn against you. NCV

Proverbs 26:27 NCV

Whoever digs a pit for others will fall into it.

Whoever tries to roll a boulder down on others will be crushed by it.

Woe to rebellious children who do not take council with the Lord!

How many people do you think understand that rebellious children are a sign of the Last Days?  I don’t think too many Christians actually do equate a rebellious generation with the soon coming of the Lord, but that is, in fact, one of the signs.  It’s easy to spot the other signs:  earthquakes, wars and rumors of wars, famines, pestilences, etc.

We have seen the news headlines in recent weeks with shocking stories about flash mobs, rioting, brutal beatings, stealing and looting – accomplished in large part by teenagers.

When we see all this, many of us wonder how and when the world went crazy and so many young people became feral, not only in their thinking but now in their behaviors as well. Popular rock and rap music today proudly declares that “We are a Generation of Thugs!

But before we get too deep into calling out and blaming the children who are acting out in devious ways, let’s explore the real reason we find ourselves, as a nation, in this condition.  We, as the previous generation, do not get a pass on this.

Isaiah 30:1 NCV “The Lord said, how terrible it will be for these stubborn children. They make plans, but they don’t ask me to help them. They make agreements with other nations, without asking my Spirit. They are adding more and more sins to themselves.”

This is the USA!

We are just as much the rebellious children of God who did not take council with the Lord!

I have a new book that I am making available to everyone that’s called “Big Book of History” that outlines the truth about history from the creation days until today.  This is a children’s book, but even adults today need to be reminded about the things in our history that contributed to the situation we currently find ourselves in with this generation of rebellious children.

The following events and timeline are outlined in the “Big Book of History”:

1947 – Pres. Harry Truman declares the U.S. is a Christian Nation.

1948 – Dead Sea Scrolls discovered.  Modern State of Israel created.

1962 – Prayer removed from state schools in the U.S. by order of Supreme Court.

1963 – The bible is removed from state schools in the US.

2005 – The Ten Commandments removed from public buildings in the US.

2010 – Pres Barack Obama declares the US is no longer a Christian Nation.

In the last 50 years, we have kicked God out of schools and eventually we even kicked Him out of the entire nation and then wonder why our kids are self-willed, insolent, and morally depraved!  In all reality, we have sometimes inadvertently assisted the anti-christ spirit in its ability to proliferate. Even much of the Church seemed to be asleep when all of this happened.

“The people who wrecked swathes of property, burned vehicles and terrorized communities have no moral compass to make them susceptible to guilt or shame” said British journalist Max Hastings in an article titled “Years of liberal dogma have spawned a generation of amoral, uneducated, welfare dependent, brutalized youngsters.”  The “liberal dogma” Max speaks about can be further explained in a Christian sense when we go a little deeper: an anti-christ spirit is masquerading in our world as a champion of human rights.

Taken to the absurd, this anti-christ spirit has convinced young people they are entitled to do what they want, when they want, and how they want and you can’t stop them.  The result of this rebellion is flash mobs, rioting, brutal beatings, stealing and looting – accomplished in large part by teenagers.

Do you think Jesus knew what this generation would be like?  It’s obvious that He did when inspired the Apostle Paul to pen the following  scripture:

2 Timothy 3:1-5   “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come, for men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

I wish I had a solution to this situation we find ourselves in.  If I did, I would gladly share it with you all.  Frankly, sometimes I wonder if we haven’t already filled the cup of iniquity that God is willing to put up with.  But all I can do is grieve and think about how much humility, prayer and mercy we all need and I know one thing about my Lord, He is FULL of grace and mercy.  More than ever before, we see a need to fall on our faces and pray:

“… if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, search for me, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear [their prayer] from heaven, forgive their sins, and heal their country.”

Will you pray with me?

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil!

Any born-again Christian who listens to the rhetoric from most of the politicians and newscasters in this country must be shaking their heads along with us.  Sometimes I don’t even believe how crazy things are getting.  Things that are being said and done are just completely opposite of the truth – and preachers are so busy teaching people how to get more money they don’t have time to warn the flock!

There is an anti-christ spirit that is arising very quickly in the world, and unless we have our spiritual senses exercised to discern the truth, we may miss the straight and narrow way that Jesus talked about in Luke 13.  This is not a time to shrink back or to conform to the world.  This is a time to hone our spiritual senses and be ready for even more craziness from the world’s system which is anti-christ.

Anybody who dares to raise their voice in reason or sanity (not to mention expressing their Christianity) is quickly shouted down by the crazies who have learned to twist things so out of shape you hardly recognize the original statement.  Don’t be intimidated by these voices – they are the voices of an enemy who has already lost the battle when Jesus died on the Cross!

We have people now who parade their sins in front of the world, and applaud their own decadence.  We have people who want to defend the ‘right’ to murder babies in the womb.  We have people who have made laws that make the ten commandments illegal.  And we have those who won’t allow the Cross, the symbol of Christianity, to even be displayed on the 911 monument!  You can’t say the name of Jesus in a high-school graduation speech!

We have kicked God out of schools and then wonder why our kids are self-willed, insolent, and morally depraved.  We have allowed new-agers and the humanists to manipulate and distort basic life principals.  We have tolerated the rhetoric of people who believe that Christians are mean for even stating their faith.

Sometimes I wonder “where is the America I knew when I was a boy?”  America is divided – not united.  It cannot stand.  There is no voice of decency  or even reason anymore.  The 10 Commandments now illegal in the U.S.?!  Whoever heard of such a thing?!  Sometimes I grieve, and then sometimes I’m angry about the condition we find ourselves in.

One thing I know for sure:  God will not be mocked!

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” Isaiah 5:20 KJV
